International Government Contractor

Number of Employees: 36,000

Locations: 60 locations in 25 countries

Challenges

The Fortune 500 contractor regularly hired international candidates for positions needed to fulfill government contracts in Iraq and Afghanistan for engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services. When they were awarded contracts, the contractor needed to hire between 50 and 75 employees within a matter of days.

Solution

To help the contractor gain award of the contract, Verified proactively established a relationship with KBR, a global engineering, procurement and construction company with 57,000 employees worldwide. Verified established a standard method to verify employment credentials with KBR locations in Houston, Texas and Dubai for returning results in a timely manner.

Results

The average turnaround for the majority of the 5,000 international employment verifications dropped from a two to six week period to between one and three days, a 93% reduction in turnaround time. This allowed the contractor to process a high number of candidates to fulfill and gain more government contracts.

Workplace Apparel & Services

Number of Employees: 6,000

Locations: 150

Challenges

A leading uniform and linen rental service company employs staff that worked with accounts nationwide. To allocate the cost for background screening costs by location and manage expenses on an annual or multi-annual basis, the accounting staff would manually sort through the invoice each month to divide the costs appropriately.

Solution

Verified Credentials was able to develop a customized report after a discovery process that allows them to review related costs without digging up and compiling historical invoices manually. By adding an identifier for individual locations, the company’s HR staff has a tool that greatly enhances their budgeting process in future years by effectively relating background screening expenses to locations as orders were placed.

Results

The rental company no longer had to break down invoices by hand. In addition, HR staff could generate reports on total costs and other statistics by location. The result was reducing the time needed to plan their budgets by 50 hours annually and attain a higher level of accuracy with the historic breakdowns. No longer needing to sort through thousands of candidates and hundreds of paper invoices, the HR staff could balance their books each quarter quickly and painlessly.

Concert & Festival Production

Number of Employees: Hundreds to thousands of seasonal staff

Locations: 10

Challenges

Organizing large outdoor concerts and festivals across the Midwest, the production company faced staffing challenges for its many seasonal events. For each festival hundreds of temporary staff needed to be hired. In order to meet their insurance carrier’s requirements, the hiring staff needed to ensure no unqualified staff would be on any festival grounds. In addition, the client was required to provide updated documentation on demand that showed that staff does not have disqualifying criminal records. With their current process, internal HR staff was manually sorting through thousands of candidates to find infractions.

Solution

Verified Credentials generated a custom report summarizing all infractions and sorting them by severity, including a detailed breakdown of all related records in an exportable, easy-to-read format. This information allowed the hiring staff to quickly determine which candidates were qualified for employment and which individuals were instantly eliminated from consideration.

Results

In addition to reducing the time needed for making hiring decisions by over 50 hours each season, the festival production company also was able to provide the summary report to their insurance carrier as proof, as requested, that background checks were performed.
